HKMA Beat Drugs Training Course: Community Intervention
Project Approved in 2010 (R1)
Doctors will attend a certificate course so as to advance their professional knowledge and facilitate their full participation in preventive education of their local communities. The course will provide comprehensive train-the-trainer training on clinical aspects of drug abuse (including early identification, drug test, brief interventions, motivational interviews, treatment and rehabilitation and referral to various social services), conducting group therapy sessions, focus group discussion and health promotion.

The programme will include parenting skill workshops with emphasis on drug prevention, development of children’s moral character and parent-child communication. Leadership camp for students, anti-drug lectures and booth games for primary school students will be organised.

The programme will serve kindergarten pupils and community dwellers in Sha Tin District. Calendar card design contest and reusable shopping bag design competition, refusal skill training and volunteer work engagement (anti-drug education for kindergarten pupils), parenting skill workshop and booth games will be organised.
Say No to Drug Magic Bag- Cosplay Drama Education

Primary school students, parents and teachers will be invited to participate in roving performances, parenting skill workshop and Cosplay training groups. The grantee will infuse interactive drama techniques in the anti-drug preventive education.
A Healthy Journey with Children

The grantee will organise a series of activities for students, teachers and parents to improve their awareness and knowledge about drugs. The activities include peer ambassador training, anti-drug quiz and drama performance, cross-boundary parenting workshops, web portal with anti-drug information, adventure trainings and visit to drug treatment and rehabilitation centres.

Comprehensive drug preventive education will be provided to at-risk secondary school students. Adventure-based training camps and subsequent booster sessions to consolidate the skills learnt in the camp, as well as follow-up school sessions for participating students to run anti-drug programmes among their schoolmates will be organised. Trainings for parents to reinforce their skills at handling drug addict teenagers will also be provided.
Dance Alive

Hip-hop dance training for at-risk students in primary or secondary schools will be provided. The students will perform the dance in schools, as well as in a large scale hip-hop show. The grantee will establish hip-hop interest groups in schools.
"Drugs Zero!" Anti-drugs Project

The school plans to organise various activities to engage students of different ethnic backgrounds and to teach them knowledge about drugs. Parents will be invited to join a parent drug prevention workshop. Publicity campaigns will be launched to spread anti-drug messages to the public.

The grantee will help young drug-abusing mothers and their families through enhancing the mothers’ use of different social services supporting their needs. The grantee aims at eradicating the mothers’ drug use and related problems in health, parenting and relationships. Community outreach, individual development, family support and relationship enhancement programmes will be carried out.
I-Phoenix 戒毒治療計劃

Treatment and rehabilitation services will be provided for young psychotropic substance abusers referred from different sources. Services include a short-term residential treatment programme, creative art therapeutic groups, and supportive employment workshops. The project will also include a research adopting a qualitative approach to study the views and trend on substance abuse.
