Project elements include experience sharing for anti-drug workers; trauma-informed counselling, medical support, therapeutic groups and family support activities for drug abusers and their family members; and production of electronic publication for project sharing.

The project aims at providing a full range of supportive services for pregnant drug abusers and drug dependent mothers to help them stay away from drugs. Project elements include family-based drug treatment skills training for social workers in the anti-drug sector, professional counselling services or group work led by clinical psychologists or professional therapists, counselling services led by social workers, cross-discipline casework meeting, medical support services for drug dependent mothers and pregnant drug abusers, baby care supervision sessions, group activities for pregnant drug abusers, drug dependent mothers and their family members, family photo taking in studio, exchange platform for child caring materials and aftercare groups for rehabilitated drug abusers.
“Taste of Art and Sports” – Project for the Physical and Mental Well-Being of Female Drug Abusers under Residential Treatment 2.0

This project aims at enhancing the mental and physical health of drug rehabilitees and re-establishing a healthy lifestyle for female drug rehabilitees in Sister Aquinas Memorial Women’s Treatment Centre (WTC). Project elements include sharing sessions by athletes/art workers, promotion of rehabilitation programme through arts exhibition and sports training in public places, group counselling services, trainee sharing sessions, online and offline art performance and sports programmes, cultural and recreational activities in community, art and sports courses, vocational training courses and subsidy for female drug abusers to attend vocational training courses.

This project aims at providing a comprehensive residential treatment and rehabilitation services for pregnant drug abusers and drug dependent mothers to help them stay away from drugs. Project elements include early-childhood and parenting education workshops, sharing sessions by service recipients, presentation of drug treatment programme and guide tours, individual and group counselling/ psychotherapy led by social workers / clinical psychologist, antenatal and postnatal care services for pregnant drug abusers, escort services to attend medical follow-up, supportive services for family carers of children and family members of drug abusers, peer internship programme, counselling for relapse prevention, life skills training and indoor or outdoor family activities for female drug abusers and their children.

This project aims at fostering the awareness and coping skills for negative emotions of drug abusers and their family members so as to strengthen internal functions of families. Project elements include training workshops for frontline workers, dissemination of psychoeducational anti-drug short video clips, mindfulness and self-care treatment groups, outreach home visits and emergency support for drug abusers and families, individual and family counselling services, Chinese medical support service and mutual support groups for family members of drug abusers.

This project aims at strengthening the psychiatric and social support for drug rehabilitees with dual diagnosis. Project elements include mental health seminars for rehabilitees in Shek Kwu Chau (SKC) Rehabilitation Centre, training workshops for frontline staff to handle rehabilitees with dual-diagnosis, intake of psychiatric cases referred from hospitals and substance abuse clinics, intensive counselling and follow-up services for the psychiatric cases during their Detoxification and Rehabilitation Phases in SKC Rehabilitation Centre, assessment for those SKC rehabilitees not under Hospital Authority’s follow-up, referral of suspected psychiatric cases for hospital assessment and production of an electronic educational kit set for frontline staff handling drug rehabilitees with dual diagnosis.
Substance Misuse to Psychiatric Disorder for Cannabis—Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for People with Cannabis Use Disorder (SToP-C—rTMS x CUD)

This project aims at (i) comparing the outcomes in patients with Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD) at different treatment and follow-up time points on efficacy in preventing cannabis use relapse and change in frequency and amount of cannabis use, craving for cannabis, and degree of severity in CUD; and (ii) determining the optimal schedule of three different repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) treatment session-schedules with the best outcomes from the primary objectives amongst subjects with CUD.
Development of A Chinese Medicine Formula for Treatment of Ketamine-Cognitive Deficits and Cystitis: Preclinical Evaluations on Its Efficacy, Safety and Molecular Mechanisms

This project aims at (i) exploring the improving effects of Chinese Medicine Formula (CMF) on the cognitive deficits induced by ketamine in neonatal and adult rats; (ii) investigating the effects of CMF on cystitis induced by ketamine in rats; and (iii) evaluating the toxicological profile of the CMF.
Ocular Surface Damage and Alteration in Microbiome among Cocaine and Ice Users - a Prospective Observational Study for Their Health Enhancement

This project aims at (i) evaluating the ocular surface symptoms and signs, examining the tear film and meibomian gland biomarkers; (ii) evaluating the changes in the ocular surface symptoms and signs and biomarkers over 12 months, and their association with drug use pattern, severity and abstinence; (iii) evaluating the association between ocular surface sequelae with the ocular surface microbiota to determine if a particular microbiome profile will predispose substance abuse users to develop more severe ocular surface sequelae; and (iv) correlating the ocular surface symptoms with the drug users’ clinical, quality of life and behavioural features.
