ACAN 60th Anniversary

Brief introduction

The Government has been working hand in hand with all sectors of society to make unremitting efforts to combat drugs. As the Government’s key partner on anti-drug work, the Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN) is responsible for advising the Government on policies to interdict the illicit traffic in dangerous drugs into and through Hong Kong as well as keeping under review programmes and projects being undertaken by government departments and voluntary agencies so as to ensure effective co-ordination and co-operation.

Taking the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the ACAN, the ACAN has launched the commemorative slogan of “Celebrating 60 Years of Unwavering Anti-drug Efforts: Stride Towards a Drug-free Hong Kong”, which affirms Hong Kong’s anti-drug achievements thus far and reflects the public’s hopes for a drug-free Hong Kong. At the same time, the Narcotics Division will collaborate with the ACAN to organise a series of events and activities with a view to consolidating anti-drug awareness in the community and working with the community in the anti-drug cause to continue to safeguard public health.

Roving Exhibition in Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of ACAN

Sixty years ago, in 1965, the Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN) was established. Since then, it has made remarkable contributions to the fight against drugs. This year, ACAN and the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau will make use of the slogan “Commemorating 60 Years of Unwavering Anti-drug Efforts: Stride Towards a Drug-free Hong Kong” when co-organising a series of events in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of ACAN. This roving exhibition is the first of these series of events. We hope you would learn more about the work of ACAN after your visit. Most important of all, we hope you would also stay away from drugs at all times and tell your families and friends - “Let’s Stand Firm. Knock Drugs Out!”.
